Welcome to our newest Toastmaster, Kathi Schultz. We’re all looking forward to her participation.

We were honored to have our Area Governor, Maynard Rinker, attend our meeting this week and as you can see below he actively joined in on many speaking roles. Maynard attended our meeting to announce that the Serious Speech Contest will be held in March. For our club the contest will be held on March 15, 2000. Start working on those speeches and let Terry Londergan know if you’d like to participate. The speech must be within the 4 ½ to 7 ½ minute timeframe and have a serious theme (non humorous).

This was Therese’s 7^th speech from the C&L manual. A very uplifting speech all about the healing power of prayer and how we can apply it in our everyday lifes.
Bob Eber	"Chess Nuts In An Open Foyer"	Ralph Lacerte
A non manual speech by Bob on his childhood obsession and experiences with the game of chess. A wonderful speech about how Bob and his friend cleverly worked their desire to play chess into their school environment.
Terry Londergan	"A Near Death Experience"	Maynard Rinker
This was Terry’s 4^th speech from the Advanced Story Telling manual. A gripping speech about her husband’s brush with death and how her prayers were answered.
Joe Mewhiney	"1^st Rate Work, 2^nd Rate Effort"	Barbara Ingrassia
Joe’s 3^rd speech from the Advanced Story Telling manual. A delightful story about 2 cousins and the different directions their lives took based upon their initial choices. The moral being – "work smarter, not harder".

SPECIAL NOTES:

Club dues (for April through September) are coming due soon. Our goal is to have all dues collected by March 15, 2000. Early payments are encouraged. Please make your check out to Toastmasters Club 2277 for $36 and give to our Treasurer, Mike Carusi.

A reminder to please buy a meal and/or drink at the meetings to help our club maintain the room availability.

The Table Topics Contest on February 23^rd will be a whole night of table topics. We’ll have 2 sessions with the winner of each going to the Super Bowl of Table Topics at the end of the night to see who excels on the final question.

Please make every effort to notify the Toastmaster of the evening well in advance if you are unable to fulfill your assigned role – it’s common courtesy and a sign of a Competent Toastmaster.

Notice to all Club Officers, please have a speech ready at all times so we can replace any no shows. This is a good practice for all Toastmasters as well.
