The Serious Speech Contest is coming soon (March 15^th) so starting working on those speeches and join in on another exciting night.

We had our 1^st Table Topics Contest at this week’s meeting and it was a great success. A whole night of nothing but table topics – life doesn’t get any better. Each Toastmaster (other than the Topicsmasters) had the opportunity to take on two table topics on this night. The winner of the 1^st half, John Keeton, faced off against the winner of the 2^nd half, Mike Carusi, with the same final question (only one was in the room at a time). They both did such a great job on the final question, which was a tough Shakespeare quote, that they received the exact same number of votes. We may yet plan another face off of these true table topics masters at one of our upcoming meetings (we’ll keep them in suspense though so they can’t prepare in advance). Thanks to George Hast and Paul Goldstein for preparing some really good table topics questions.

The Serious Speech Contest will be held on March 15, 2000 for our club. Start working on those speeches and let Terry Londergan know if you’d like to participate. The speech must be within the 4 ½ to 7 ½ minute timeframe and have a serious theme (non humorous).

A reminder to please buy a meal and/or drink at the meetings to help our club maintain the room availability.

Please make every effort to notify the Toastmaster of the evening well in advance if you are unable to fulfill your assigned role – it’s common courtesy and a sign of a Competent Toastmaster.

Notice to all Club Officers, please have a speech ready at all times so we can replace any no shows. This is a good practice for all Toastmasters as well.

Be sure to contact Terry Londergan (VP of Education) if you want to get on the schedule for a role or speech. Terry’s home phone is 508-885-5526.
