What a power packed meeting we had this week. Our Toastmaster, Paul Goldstein, led the meeting with considerable eloquence even though he was somewhat under the weather. The Topicsmaster, John Keeton, challenged us all with some very well thought out topics centered on Romance, Marriage, and Divorce. And our General Evaluator, Susan Bassick, did a fabulous job giving us all something to work on as we continuously improve our communication skills.

Word of the evening: Circumlocution – to talk all around the subject, roundabout expression

• The Serious Speech Contest will be held on March 15, 2000 for our club. Start working on those speeches and let Terry Londergan know if you’d like to participate. The speech must be within the 4 ½ to 7 ½ minute timeframe and have a serious theme (non humorous). Also check your November edition of Toastmaster Magazine for all the rules.
• Come early to the meeting next week (6:30 or so) and see a prototype of what our future web site might look like (thanks to Stan Birdwell). It is also a chance to give us some much needed feedback.
• A reminder to please buy a meal and/or drink at the meetings to help our club maintain the room availability.
• Please make every effort to notify the Toastmaster of the evening well in advance if you are unable to fulfill your assigned role – it’s common courtesy and a sign of a Competent Toastmaster.
• Notice to all Club Officers, please have a speech ready at all times so we can replace any no shows. This is a good practice for all Toastmasters as well.
• Be sure to contact Terry Londergan (VP of Education) if you want to get on the schedule for a role or speech. Terry’s home phone is 508-885-5526.
