Summary

FangLui

Ice Breaker – My American Dream

Karen Lefebvre

Fang told us of her life growing up in China.  Her father helped her develop an interest in music and gymnastics.  She currently is an electronic engineer.  She likes America because of the freedom to be what you want to be, but realize that there is a price to be paid for freedom

Brian Mulroy

If this keeps up, I’m walking

Aaron Kan

Brian told us of the misfortunes that he has had with his cars.  His first car cost him $500, but things started to go wrong and he ended up paying several times that for his car.  He also smashed up his second car.  He concluded by saying that if this keeps up, he’s going walking

Rob Koenig

A Voice for Freedom

Mary Alice Widness

Rob repeated his stirring speech that used Martin Luther King as an inspiration for all of us to improve our speaking abilities.  He encouraged us to speak from the diaphragm, and to vary our pitch and inflection to add vocal variety.

Ÿ          Members who are interested in speaking outside the club, please contact George Hast for more information about the “Speaker’s Bureau”

Ÿ          The toastmaster of the evening and the Sergeant of Arms are responsible for arranging the tables suitably for the meeting

Ÿ          Fed Nathan, Sergeant at Arms, will collect $5.00 from any member who has not met the minimum dinner purchase requirement that maintains the room availability

Ÿ          A 15% gratuity is mandatory to insure proper service.  You may, at your discretion, give more.

Ÿ          It is a sign of courtesy to be quiet while a speaker is at the podium.

Ÿ          Proper dress for the dinner meeting is business casual at a minimum.

Ÿ          To sign up to receive district 31 headquarters e-mail and news, go to the WWW and visit http://groups.yahoo.com/group/d31tm
